Respect Life

Respect Life

Respect Life Ministry is dedicated to:
1.) Restoring the respect and legal protection for every human life from fertilization to natural death.
2.) Recovering an appreciation for the sanctity and dignity of each unique human being.
3.) Promoting educational events to inform our community on respect for life issues.

The American Bishops’ Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities: A Campaign in Support of Life provides a framework for the ministry, following the Catholic tradition of Prayer, Study, Education, and Action, including pastoral care and legislative advocacy. Respect Life Ministry focuses on life and death issues involving the beginning of life, end of life, the death penalty, and legislative action on the parish, diocesan, state and national levels.

Project Rachel

Project Rachel is a confidential healing ministry for women and men who have been touched by abortion.
Call toll free (877) 908-1212 or project.rachel@dioceseofvenice.org for support.

The ministry of Project Rachel came about because of the stories women told about the hurt they experienced after their abortion. The pain-filled stories of the days, weeks, months and even years after an abortion continue to be expressed by men and women in our offices and in others like it across the country, indeed the world.

Whether they are told in support group settings, books published here and abroad, (see Resources) or in cyberspace, the pain continues to emerge. Even those who advocate for the right of a woman to choose abortion tell of the grief, sorrow, confusion and struggle to cope with the aftermath of the most common surgical procedure performed in the United States.

Collier Pregnancy Centers, Inc

The National Catholic Bioethics Center

This is a resource we believe our members should be aware of. Established in 1972, the center conducts research, consultation, publishing and education to promote human dignity in health care and the life sciences, and derives its message directly from the teachings of the Catholic Church. Click here to visit their website.

The Center is unique among bioethics organizations in that its message derives from the official teaching of the Catholic Church which draws from a moral tradition that acknowledges the unity of faith and reason and builds on the solid foundation of natural law.
Natural Family Planning

>h2>Standard Days Method

The Standard Days Method Online Training is a self-instructional course designed to offer healthcare professionals a comprehensive orientation on how to counsel clients in the Standard Days Method (SDM) of family planning.

The Marquette Model

Natural Family Planning (NFP) isn’t just the old Rhythm Method anymore! There is a method of NFP called the Marquette Model that is easy to use and just as effective as hormonal birth control, but at the same time respects God’s plan for love, marriage, and sexuality. As described on the Marquette University Natural Family Planning website:

The Marquette Model (MM) system of NFP brings 21st century technology to NFP by using the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor, a device used at home which measures hormone levels in urine to estimate the beginning and end of the time of fertility in a women’s menstrual cycle. A recent (2007) study published in the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing demonstrated a 97-98% efficacy of the MM in avoiding pregnancy when taught by a qualified teacher and correctly applied.

You may obtain more information about the MM by visiting the Marquette University Natural Family Planning website at http://nfp.marquette.edu
or by contacting BPJXXIII Parishioner Amy Benvie by email at amyk222281@aol.com or by phone at (239) 561-2441.
