Arimatheans
Joann Dunn (239) 561-7751 JJDSR9@aol.com
The goal of the Arimatheans is to represent our Parish family as many of our elderly may have little or no living relatives to see them through this final journey. Other deceased Catholics may be seasonal with family and friends residing in other states. Our Arimatheans are both full time and part time residents who kindle the Parish spirit of community by their presence and respect toward the deceased in this final tribute. Responsibilities include attending funeral services, when available, as part of Parish support.
Bereavement Ministry (grief support)
Kate Lewis, R.N. (239) 561-2245
The purpose of the Bereavement Ministry is to invite those suffering through the loss of a loved one to attend small support groups in a caring and tender environment. In this process of sharing and guidance, there becomes a window of hope for the next chapter of life. Special training in Bereavement Support is required and sessions will be offered throughout the year.
Funeral Ministry (funeral planning)
Mary Zizzo, R.N. (239) 565-0620 two4show@embarqmail.com
The goal of the Funeral Ministry is to assist and guide a bereaved family with appropriate selections of scripture and hymns to honor their loved one and to assist Parishioners who wish to preplan their funerals while they are able to do so. The responsibilities include meeting with the family, offer support and assist during the funeral in various ministry positions.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Judy Siegel (239) 437-4978
Our shawls are lovingly handmade by members of our Parish. The shawls or lap covers are a gentle reminder to our sick that they are remembered daily in prayer. On happier occasions they are presented to mothers of newborns. Our responsibility is to keep our closet supplied with a variety of these prayer shawls for distribution throughout the community.
